Not only is it an honor to be an American in the greatest country on Earth, it is an honor to be directly involved with the foodservice operations that are integral to the well being of our brave men and women that unselfishly give of themselves to preserve the very freedoms we all hold so precious and close. I know of no other professional or social organization that supports and aligns with the military to the level of and / or unilateral extent as shown by IFSEA. I see this as a true point of difference and a recognized distinction for our organization. by Larry Brown, Chairman of the Board-Elect In 1957, IFSEA, at the request of the Air Force, IFSEA participated in establishing standards of service and an evaluation process to check on adherence to those standards. Currently, some 25 IFSEA members travel the world, holding the honorary rank of Brigadier General, and each team selects winners based on quality of food, food safety, cost effectiveness and procedures. Awards are grouped like best Aircraft Carrier, Field Mess, Large Dining Hall, etc. Many Commanding Officers, about 10 Generals and Admirals, the Dir. of F. S. for each of the services and 400+ command representatives and food management team members attend the annual IFSEA conference to participate in the awards ceremony. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Military Sealift Command are done solely by IFSEA, while we share the responsibilities for the Air Force with other organizations.
