Fire and Ice: Coast Guard Chefs show their stuff at Prestigious Army Cooking Competition 04/12/2007
Torches, electric grinders and chainsaws are tools usually found in garages, garden sheds and hardware stores, not kitchens.

But when these unusual cooking utensils are combined with a splash of pride, sprinkling of cross-service rivalry, a prestigious Army culinary competition, a handful of
talented Coast Guard chefs and brought to a boil, it creates a recipe for success.

New Baghdad Area Dining Facility Feeds 9,000 Per Meal 03/22/2007
CAMP STRIKER, Iraq  - After months of construction and waiting, the largest dining facility on Iraq's Victory Base Complex opened to cheers and a flood of Soldiers and
civilians March 20.

The executive officer for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Lt. Col. Frank Andrews, thanked Kellogg, Brown and Root employee, 2nd BCT food-service
Soldiers and others who assisted in the construction and opening of the new facility. Andrews also cut the ceremonial ribbon stretched in front of the building.

Food service specialists test skills in Chef of the Quarter competition 03/04/2007
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Feb. 16, 2007) -- The station’s top food service specialists put their skills to the test during the Chef of the Quarter Board at R.
G. Robinson Mess Hall Thursday.

The four specialists were judged on food service knowledge, time management, food preparation, presentation, and taste.

Food Service Division Keeps Tortuga Fighting Trim 04/03/2007
USS TORTUGA, At Sea (NNS) -- In line with the ship’s high focus to physical fitness, the food service division aboard USS Tortuga (LSD 46) is promoting healthy menu
options for its crew during the ship’s current spring patrol.

At all hands calls, Tortuga Commanding Officer Cmdr. Todd A. Lewis urges his Sailors to give their fullest efforts to the series of fitness exercises. The objective is to develop
the “strong body, strong mind” necessary to conduct arduous operations on a forward deployed amphibious ship.
