Calling all ‘Grill Sergeants’
The Pentagon Channel is launching an exciting, new lifestyle program called ‘The Grill Sergeants’—and we’re looking for a few
good military chefs to host this weekly cooking show.
If you’ve got the culinary skills—and a big personality to match, we want to see you! Send us a 10-minute tape or post an online
video clip of you instructing/preparing your favorite dish.
You must also be available the week of October
22-26, when we plan to shoot the entire season of shows at the Culinary Institute at Fort Lee, VA.
The talent search deadline is fast approaching, so send your demo as soon as possible to:

Message From Fort Lee:
To all,
The Pentagon Channel will be filming a weekly cooking show here at Fort Lee 22-26 Oct. The idea is for the cooking show to
represent all branches of service. So please get the word out to all of your service members to put a quick 10 minute video
together of them teaching a cooking demonstration.
The video can be shot at home, DFAC or wherever. The video should give The Pentagon Channel an opportunity to see the
persons cooking ability but also the person’s character. Ideally we would like to get a cooking show from each service. Each host
must have an assistant to help them prepare and to be on camera. The host and assistant host must practice their dishes at Fort
Lee 15-26 Oct. If a host from each service is picked up by the Pentagon Channel Producer, then each service will do between 5
half hour cooking shows. Service members must select a dish, main course, dessert etc that will keep them cooking for 45-60
minutes. This will allow the producers to cut and edit down to a one half hour show. Those potential candidates should begin to
work up recipes and ideas for their half hour cooking shows. The Pentagon Channel has solicited for viewers to submit recipes.
Therefore, some recipes may come in, which the service will have to adapt and make their own version. However, in the event that
no recipes are recommended then, service will have to develop their own recipes and ideas. This will be somewhat fluid and
flexible. Each selected host will be required to submit recipes and a consolidated ration list to robert.sparks2@us.army.lee for
review NLT 5 Oct 07. Each service must be prepared to do up to 10 shows in a one week period in the event that hosts from each
service are located.
The Pentagon Channel will provide the funding to bring in host and assistant host for the practice and filming. Fort Lee will
provide kitchen space for practice and basic pots and pans. Service host should bring in any special equipment. The uniform for
the show is Chef Jacket, with Name, Rank, any ACF Certifications, Service logo on left Breast pocket, Black Pants and black shoes.
This is your time to let your best cooks shine and represent your service. Candidates should have a good understanding of
cookery, present a professional image and have some character. Think about Emeril and Rachel Ray. They are decent cooks,
but they have great personality and charisma, which will make for great TV.
I know this is short, that is how it works in the world of media, but please get your guys and gals to get their tape to the folks at the
Pentagon Channel, see attached flyer, NLT 19 Oct. The show will go on. Please send me an e-mail to let me know that you
received it. Feel free to contact Producer(on CC Line) or myself if you have any questions. I will be out of the office 1-14 Sept
and 20-30 Sept. Please pass along this e-mail to the appropriate people within your service.
Thanks
CW4 Sparks
