Military Hospitality Alliance Military Culinary Competition

August 26, 2008 LAS VEGAS, NV – The Military Hospitality Alliance Branch of the International Food Service Executives
Association announces that the Military Culinary Competition will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008, hosted by the Army,
Air Force, Marines and Main Street Barracks Row on 8th St. and I St., in Washington, DC, in front of Historic Marine Barracks.
The Commandant of the Marine Corps will present the awards. Six Washington Redskin cheerleaders will be on hand as well as
Miss DC and Miss Teen DC.

Teams from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard, and some mixed service teams, are expected to compete
in the Fifth Military Culinary Competition, starting at 8 am on September 27th. This year's competition is in one of Washington DC's
historic neighborhoods called Barracks Row, which is named after the Marine Barracks home of the U. S. Marine Corps ceremonial
unit.

About the Competition

A mystery box competition, five teams will compete simultaneously, in three groups, starting at 8 am, 11 am and 2 pm. Each group
will have different ingredients. Expected prizes include:

First Place – Two-week training program at the Walt Disney company. The four members of the first place team will travel to
Disney World or Disneyland, where they will work with world class chefs and attend Disney University, compliments of Disney's F&B
Departments. Also a class at the Culinary Institute of America and a Dale Carnegie course.

Second Place – $1000 per team member – The second place team members will each receive $1000

Third Place – $500 per team member. All participants get beautiful professional carving sets from the Hubert Company.

Who Has Won?

Year 1 was won by the United States Army from Fort Bragg,
Year 2 went to the United States Coast Guard team from the Norfolk, Virginia area.
Year 3 Grand Champion was the USS Williams (DDG-95) out of Norfolk, Virginia.
Year 4 saw the Commandant of the Marine Corps hand the award to the winning Marine
Corps team.

Twenty teams compete, which currently include the following:

• U.S. Navy, the White House (2), Vice President's residence, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, USS Oscar Austin (DDG-79),
USS Enterprise (CVN-65), Naval Station Norfolk. U.S. Naval Academy, Naval Reserve U. of Missouri
• U.S. Coast Guard,
• U.S. Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force's residence and office (2), USAF Europe, Air Education Training Center
